Strengths-Based Counseling and Evaluations
BIOGRAPHY
I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University in 2021 and became a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Florida in 2022. I am a certified PSYPACT (The Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact) provider and able to provide TeleHealth services to individuals residing in participating PSYPACT states. I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Florida since 2010. I graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with both my graduate degree in Social Work and my undergraduate degree in English Literature. I have a master’s degree in English Literature from the University of California at Irvine. I earned a minor in Creative Writing and enjoy incorporating the creative outlets of art and writing into the therapeutic process whenever a client is interested in doing so.
I have had a private practice since 2010 in historical downtown DeLand in West Volusia County, Florida. I provide both counseling and assessment services for children, adolescents, and adults. I approach both counseling and assessment as healing processes, helping to answer deep-seated questions that individuals have about themselves or their child. With a passion for supporting neurodiversity, I provide an environment of compassion and support to help individuals and families to learn and thrive.
COUNSELING AND ASSESSMENT
Counseling and assessment are processes truly unique to each person. I make it my personal mission to help each individual clarify what they want to achieve and to set a clear path on how to accomplish those goals. Whether I am working with an adult, a child, or an adolescent, my goal is to promote self-knowledge and empowerment. Counseling and assessment can be life-changing experiences, and I will ask you to give your full effort to be active, open, and honest in our work together. In return, I will give you the personalized support that warrants such trust.
I have over 20 years of experience in counseling. Areas of expertise include:
- Specialization in neurodiversity (Autism, ADHD, etc.)
- Play therapy for young children
- Anxiety and depression
- Phase-of-life changes, grief, and loss
- Life stresses and next steps
I also offer a range of assessment and psychological evaluation services:
- Autism and ADHD
- IQ testing and gifted
- Academic and learning disabilities
- Diagnosis of mood, personality pattern, and trauma-related concerns
The Psychological Evaluation Process is as follows, over 3-4 meetings:
(1) Clinical Interview (2 hours): with adult seeking evaluation or with parents/caregivers (if evaluation is for a child or adolescent)
(2) Testing Session (full day): 10am until lunch, resume after a lunch break until evaluation is completed
(3) Second Testing Session: As needed
(4) Feedback Session (1 hour): meet with adult seeking testing or with parents/caregivers to review report in detail; then meet with child or adolescent to discuss findings in simpler, age-appropriate language
PAYMENT INFORMATION
Evaluation Process and Pricing:
Your estimated psychological evaluation rate will be based upon a tiered pricing system that is dependent upon reported family income. I will give you my best estimate of the cost in our initial phone call. This fee may need to be adjusted after the Clinical Interview if it is determined that additional testing is needed or if the case is particularly complex. Any additional fees will be clearly communicated with you prior to moving forward with the evaluation process. This flexibility allows me to tailor the evaluation to each person’s unique needs and to plan for adequate time for the evaluation.
Fee Schedule for Psychological Evaluations (via credit card entered in the client portal):
$200 non-refundable intake and paperwork fee due upon scheduling. This fee is separate from the tiered pricing for the evaluation itself.
50% evaluation cost after Clinical Interview
50% remaining evaluation cost after Testing Session
Counseling Pricing:
I have a tiered pricing system based upon reported family income. My current rates for counseling are as follows:
Annual Family income (before taxes): Rate (per 50-minute session)
Under $75,000: $125
$76,000-125,000: $150
$126,000-175,000: $175
$176,000+: $200
Intake Paperwork Policy, Intake Fee, and Cancellation Fee:
All intake paperwork must be completed prior to scheduling an initial appointment. After speaking on the phone and determining that you or your child are a good fit for services, I will send the intake paperwork via email. Once this paperwork is completed, we will schedule the first appointment.
Upon scheduling the initial appointment (for counseling or an evaluation), you will be charged a $200 non-refundable intake and paperwork fee. This fee is separate from the rate charged for counseling or evaluation.
Cancelling or missing any counseling appointment with less than 24-hour notice will result in a cancellation fee equal to your current counseling rate. Cancelling or missing any evaluation appointment with less than 24-hour notice will result in a $300 cancellation fee. Exceptions will be made for illness or emergencies, at my discretion.
Insurance Accepted:
At the present time, I accept Volusia Health Network insurance.
Family Empowerment/Gardiner Scholarship:
I am an approved, direct-pay provider with the Family Empowerment (formerly Gardiner) Scholarship through Step Up for Students. Please contact me for more information.
WHERE TO GO AND WHAT TO EXPECT
My private practice is located in historic downtown DeLand, above the Anointed Olive. The office is on Woodland Boulevard, between Indiana and New York. From Monday through Friday, most parking in the area is limited to two to three hours. Typically, the easiest long-term parking is found by going east on Indiana, to the free parking garage at Indiana and Alabama.
Please note that the practice is in a historical building and requires entry using a flight of stairs. I share space with a colleague, so you may encounter this provider or her clients in the building. Due to the Anointed Olive being downstairs, the stairwell and offices smell faintly of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. White noise machines are used to facilitate privacy. Please inform me of any sensory sensitivities or other concerns.
